Having been damaged
You rebuilt yourself
No one picked up the pieces
But they did stand by your side
Having rebuilt yourself
You learned how to survive
You learned no pain can compare
You decided to stay, keep going
And that was simply enough
What hurt the most was being ignored
Doing everything that should have been done
Saying what should have been enough
Been right and still not being heard
But you picked yourself up
Managed to rebuild yourself
With the work of a terracotta warrior
And in that strength you know
You will never break again
It’s funny though
How often when something breaks
Even with time to rebuild
Knowing you won’t shatter again
Knowing the wrecking ball won’t destroy you
It was never your choice to begin
And you never even got a say
But somehow you have the strength to remain
